Thank you for sharing. Your posts are so moving. I work as a trauma surgeon so unfortunately I see loss weekly if not almost daily. But I never see this side of things. The daily heartbreak and the daily journey to move forward. The worst part of my job is being on the other side, being the proverbial bearer of the Worst News and partaking in the Worst Day of someone's life. My condolences and my attempt to convey that "everything possible" was done always struck me as futile words of routine. I never see or know what happens after, to my patients' families, and I've resigned to think that is a wholly private space a physician can never go. But having come across your blog, something in me compels me to bear witness to your experience. Thank you for allowing me to join you and share in your burden, and to learn how better to serve my patients and their families.

Thank you Theresa, your words really lift me up. It's always a risk to write about your feelings but this experience has been nothing but positive, I hope I get to be a guest contributor again!
